Roger Moore's second outing. This time Bond is threaten with a golden bullet bearing his OO7 number. Assuming it was sent by the highly paid assassin called Scaramanga, the man with the golden gun, M takes Bond off his current assignment until Bond either kills Scaramanga or Scaramanga kills Bond. From Lebanon, Macao and Thailand, OO7 discovers the truth behind who Scaramanga is and what evil plans he is reflecting on to harness the power of the sun.
After the thrilling chase film of Live and Let Die, EON Productions chose to continue on that path with little success. TMWTGG fails primarily in the action department. It has very little action to keep the viewer interested. Second, the climax does not offer the typical "Countdown to Armageddon" that has been so prominent in previous Bond capers. However, the appearance of Christopher Lee as Scaramanga is a definite plus for this film. Other noteworthy moments are the 360-degree spiral car jump and Derek Medding's special effects. Especially the exploding island at the conclusion.
Most Memorable Dialogue:
Hoping to get vital information, Bond aims a rifle at the groin area of Lazar and says,
Bond: "Speak now or forever hold your piece."
Dr. Shatterhand's Scale from 1 to 10
