03. THE PROPERTY OF A LADY -
One of three
Fleming short stories from the OCTOPUSSY anthology, although this title was used in the film OCTOPUSSY, Eon
can certainly use it again since they did use the title THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH
in the film ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.
Now that "Quantum of Solace"
has been released on DVD and Eon Productions is preparing for a 2011 release of
the next James Bond adventure. Speculation is mounting as to what the
title and storyline will be involving the world's greatest secret agent and the
mysterious Quantum organization.
If I had my way, here are some Fleming and
non-Fleming titles that I would love to see during the opening credits.
01. SHATTERHAND - Named after the
"so-called" villain in Ian Fleming's YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. The
villain turns out to be Ernst Stavro Blofeld. However, Eon Productions can
easily use the name for another villain.

02. RISICO - The
fourth short story in the FOR YOUR EYES ONLY anthology. Although this story was used in the 1981
film, Eon
could change the meaning of this word.

07. THE WRITING ON MY HEART - Chapter 15 of
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.

08. MY ENEMY'S ENEMY - A title that Fleming allegedly considered.

09. SHAMELADY - A title that was bounced
around several years ago. It is also a chapter title in Raymond Benson's
book ZERO MINUS TEN.

02. At the conclusion of QUANTUM OF SOLACE, Bond has yet to find out who is behind this terrorist organization. Who is its leader? In Fleming's DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, there are two villains who run the smuggling operation. Jack Spang and Seraffimo Spang. I personally feel Seraffimo Spang would be an excellent choice to head up an international terrorist syndicate.
03. Recently in the news, oceanographers and scientist have been able to videotape (check out YouTube), and capture a giant squid. With the advantages of computer animation today, the producers can create the giant squid from the DOCTOR NO novel. It would be a highlight in the film series to see Bond fight to the death in an underwater cove against this most dangerous sea creature.
04. In the short story THE HILDEBRAND RARITY, Bond is on holiday in the Seychelles Islands with his friend Fidele Barbey. He meets an uncouth American millionaire named Milton Krest who has offered the two the job of aiding him and his wife, Liz, in the search for a rare fish named "The Hildebrand Rarity." What if the rare and colorful fish carries a poison that can be used for biological warfare. Obviously some changes would have to be made with the character Milton Krest, since he was used in LICENCE TO KILL. But the idea of Craig's Bond being sexually attractive to the married Liz, would make an interesting storyline. Especially at the end of the short story, where she is one of the suspects in the death of her husband.
05. Taking it one step further, Krest is simply supplying rare plants and fish to the botanist Dr. Gutram Shatterhand (the villain in the novel YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE), who has his own secluded island. Here is the next link in the terrorist syndication; Dr. Shatterhand is planning the most deadliest biological attacks on civilized cities around the world and financially disrupting major pharmaceutical companies worldwide on the stock exchange by being the only provider of the viral antidote.
06. Introduce OO8 as the "By-The-Book" British agent who replaces Bond
on a botched mission. Only to have Bond rescue OO8 in the final scenes.
Make this more interesting by having OO8 a female.
07. Bring in the henchman, Horror, from the novel THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.
Have him never seen until the final - similar to Red
Grant in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. Only Bond, and the audience, never see his face.
Similar to the Sherlock Holmes film THE PEARL OF DEATH with the murderous
'Creeper'.
08. Have Bond discover the real reason his parents were killed in a climbing
accident.
09. Introduce the housekeeper, May, from the novels. After all, Bond is a
globetrotting secret agent. Can you picture him trying to keep his home cleaned
for the next overnight guest.
10. Bring back the large battle scenes where Bond, assisted by an elite team of
fighting men and women, battle the villain's army inside a hidden base.
